You will want to create an archive company for many reasons.
 
However, you need to create an archive company if you have not yet run your W-2s for 2008, but are continuing with payroll for 2009.

2008 Tax Forms 
Get a head start on year-end processing now and order your tax forms. We offer both your 1099-Misc and W-2s. You can choose between two different formats to suite your needs. You can also email or fax your order to us and we can ship or deliver your forms to you at the year-end user group meeting. Are you ready for payroll for the new year? Do you have the current Federal Tax limits and State Unemployment rates? 
 
The first thing you want to do is to check to see if you are running the correct versions and service packs of BusinessWorks.
To do this you want to open BusinessWorks and choose the Help menu and select About Sage BusinessWorks. This will open a window and tell you what version and service pack you are running.
You DO NOT want to put new 2009 tax table on your software until your W-2s have been run! 
If you are running BusinessWorks version 2009, service pack 2 contains the 2009 tax tables. If you are running BusinessWorks version 8, service pack 6 contains the 2009 tax tables. You can recieve these service packs from Sage Software Online. Be sure to have your Sage Online username and password ready. If you are running BusinessWorks version 7 or earlier, or having trouble downloading the service packs, please contact us at 985.851.4043 for assistance.

BusinessWorks Version 2009

Would you like to upgrade to the new BusinessWorks version 2009? You can contact us by email or by phone to schedule an appointment.
We recommend waiting until the first service pack for the new version has been issued to avoid any kinks they might find. Until that time we can put you on our upgrade list to have an appointment scheduled after the issue of the first service pack. The first service pack is usually issued in mid-December.
If you must have the upgrade completed before that please call us and we can help you.

If you have already run your W-2s... 
then you can install Sage BusinessWorks version 2009 Service Pack 2.
This service pack will update your software with the tax table changes for 2009. Please check to make sure that you have the correct State Unemployment rate (SUTA) as well. You can login to Sage Software Online by clicking here to downlaod and run the latest service pack. If you need additional assistance pleases feel free to give us a call.
