Sage
BusinessWorks version 2010
The Sage partners were offered a preview of the version 2010 for Sage
BusinessWorks -- and we are all impressed with the new look and modern
feel of the user interface. The software engineers have made major
improvements that will benefit every user of the software and we
promptly sent them our thanks (and some cupcakes). We are anxiously
awaiting the beta version in July with the finalized list of
enhancements. At that time, you become eligible to participate in the
early release program.
In Sage BusinessWorks version 8, quotes, sales orders, and invoices
were limited to 99 line items. However, Sage removed this in version
2009. Jenny of Johnny's Engine participated as an early release site to
test this enhancement. She found the program very helpful and enjoyed
it. She appreciated that purchase orders, sales orders, and
invoices do not have to be split up between several numbers. Jenny
also received an extension of her ClientCare support plan for her
participation.
Recently, Jenny was able to preview Sage BusinessWorks version 2010 and
says it looks nice and is easy to use.

Make
your Vendor List Work for You!
Tip: Reduce Time
Searching for Vendors
Determine and use standard rules to name vendors similar to your
filing system. For example, we use the last name to identify
individuals or employees in our vendor system. You should review your
vendors starting with city, regional, parish/county and state
names.
Trick: Power
Lookup and Rename features
After reviewing the Vendor ID list, we found inefficient and
duplicated data. This caused users to be frustrated
when searching for vendor data. (By the way, the customer was us!) For
example, we have multiple vendors starting with Terrebonne; such as:
Terrebonne Parish Sales Tax, Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government,
Terrebonne Parish Library, Terrebonne ARC. Using the Power Lookup in
Maintain Vendors, we viewed all of the vendors with Terrebonne anywhere
in their name. When we found these vendors listed as TERRE
SALES, TPCG, TP LIBRARY, TARC, we used the Rename feature to reorganize
them. We chose to use TER as the beginning of the IDs. Duplicates were
renamed with the letter Z to move it down the list and
DNU was placed in the name -- our code for "do not use."
